The Loyalist System
"For the Union"
Loyalists are citizens that have taken it upon themselves to support the Union in whatever way they can. There are different types of "Loyalists"...
Some are not Loyal in any way to the Union and only wish to be given a better standard of living through loyalty points. Some have a more extreme nature of using the benefits the Union to provide themselves with items that they could use to fight back at the Union. This is why many Civil Protection units are cautious of low-ranking Loyalists as they are wise to their schemes. The third type of Loyalist is one that is nothing but loyal to the Union. They will sore through the ranks and maybe even end up on the Council. Some of their reasoning for being a Loyalist may be for better living conditions, but they have a true loyalty to the Union and those that are only referred to as "Our Benefactors"
How do I gain Loyalty points (LP)?
The main way that most Loyalists will gain LP is through the handing in of contraband to the closest Civil Protection unit. Contraband have different levels of seriousness and a citizen will be rewarded based on what level of contraband and how many pieces of contraband are given over to a unit.
Note that giving a unit too many items of contraband, even if the contraband was legitimately found, will probably land you in an interrogation room as this is suspicious activity. So be careful when handing units contraband and use common sense.
Level One Contraband - 1 Loyalty point
(2 points for more than 1 item)
Non UU-branded food items
Non UU-branded books/Metropolice supplements
Level Two Contraband - 2 Loyalty points
(3 points for more than 1 item)
Radio equipment
Filter (Charcoal)
Empty ammo boxes
Empty grenade
Level Three Contraband - 4 Loyalty points (6 points for more than 1 item)
Non UU-branded clothing (Resistance clothing, Black suit with gasmask)
Melee weapons
Ranged weapons (Handgun, Sub-machine gun)
Grenades
Filters (Military or OTA)
Ammo boxes (full)
Gas can
Other methods of gaining loyalty points
These are usually less common ways of getting Loyalty points but they are still available as methods for gaining them:
Saving the life of a Civil Protection Unit - 5LP
Saving the life of a member of the city Administration - 10LP
Saving the life of the city Administrator - 15 LP
Hard work within a work-shift (CWU overseer will recommend who should get LPs if anyone but it is the units call whether to hand out loyalty points or not) - 1/2LP
Giving a Civil Protection unit information that leads to the capture of a high-geared anti-citizen - 4LP
Loyalist ranking
As you gain Loyalty points, you will be provided with a specifically coloured armband to show your loyalist status. Each rank of loyalist comes with different benefits and with higher ranking, comes higher respect within the Universal Union.
Black-tier Loyalist - 5LP
- Black Loyalist band that must be worn around left arm.
- Civil Protection units will treat them with little difference to the common rabble.
Brown-tier Loyalist - 15LP
- Brown Loyalist band that must be worn around left arm.
- Medium tier rations are now available to the citizen.
- Civil Protection units will sometimes be more cautious of Brown tier loyalists as there are common reports of low ranking Loyalists acting on behalf of the "rebellion".
Red-tier Loyalist - 20LP
- Red Loyalist band that must be worn around left arm.
- A Union card is given to the citizen by a Civil Protection unit to allow them access to luxury housing.
- At this point Civil Protection units may treat the loyalist with a tad more respect. Maybe allowing them to leave a building earlier than others after a sweep.
- The Loyalist is handed a one-time use document that could be handed over to a Civil Protection unit to clear all their verdict points. It cannot be used to remove 12 verdict points and avoid amputation.
Blue-tier Loyalist - 35LP
- Blue Loyalist band that must be worn around left arm.
- High tier rations are now available to the citizen.
- Civil Protection units will treat this loyalist with a noticeable amount of respect compared to a standard citizen.
Green-tier Loyalist - 50LP
- Green Loyalist band that must be worn around left arm.
- Civil Protection units will always treat these Loyalists with more respect than they treat others.
- At this point if the Loyalist gains 12 Verdict points and is up for amputation, they can petition to the Administration for their survival. If they are amputated, it will be in a painless way unless the loyalist was affiliated with rebels.
White-tier Loyalist - 65LP
- White Loyalist band that must be worn around left arm.
- Civil Protection units will treat these Loyalists almost as Colleague. They will usually split them apart from other citizens in a sweep to protect them and sometimes trade minor pleasantries if the streets are calm. But remember a unit is not forced to do this and even attempting to order them around could easily get you beaten/killed.
Loyalist - Council Member - 80LP
- White Loyalist band must still be worn around left arm
- A Black three-piece suit will be provided to the Loyalist that they may wear whenever they wish
- A golden badge with the sign of the Union imprinted in it will be handed to the them to show their superior status
- This level Loyalist will also usually be called into CAB meetings and if enough of these tiers exist, have their own meetings which they will be escorted to by a Civil Protection unit.
- Civil Protection units have no choice but to treat a Loyalist of this status with respect. They have reached a rank higher than a Civil Protection unit in the hierarchy of the Union and are ranked just below that of City Administrators.
Head of Council
- The head of the Council of Loyalists is hand-picked by the Administrator of the city/chosen as a successor to the previous Head of Council. This Loyalist is now an official member of the city Administration. They have their own office in the Nexus, whilst still being allowed to attend Loyalist meetings within the city.
- When outside the Nexus the Head of Council can request a Civil Protection unit to escort them safely to their destination and they will usually be escorted by an OTA unit within the nexus.
- This is the highest point a Loyalist can hope to reach within the Union
